THE CHAINED ELEPHANT....

As I was passing the elephants, I suddenly stopped, confused by the fact
that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their
front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at
anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

I saw a trainer near by and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals
just stood there and made no attempt to get away. "Well," he said, "when
they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them
and, at that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are
conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can
still hold them, so they never try to break free."

I was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds
but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they
were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief
that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

It has been said throughout history that what ever you believe, with
conviction, you can achieve. Don't be like the poor elephant and go through
your life stuck because of a limiting belief you were given or developed
years ago. Take charge of your life and live it to the fullest. You deserve
the best!
Winner frog

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs.... who arranged a running competition.

The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants....

The race began....

Honestly:

No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:

"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"

"They will NEVER make it to the top."

"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher....

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....

But ONE continued higher and higher and higher....

This one wouldn't give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally want ed to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?

It turned out....

That the winner was DEAF!!!!

*********

The wisdom of this story is:

Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic....

because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have.

Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!

Therefore: ALWAYS be.... POSITIVE!

And above all: Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

Always think: God and I can do this!

ON A POSITIVE NOTE

When celebrated French cyclist ,Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer with a 40 percent survival chance and told he'd never be able to cycle again ,his first thought was ,I'm going to die. On second thoughts ,he decided to fight back and declared himself a cancer survivor ,instead of a cancer victim.

Later ,when he coughed up blood ,he told himself there was nothing to worry as he'd coughed up only a little blood .A few years later not only was Lance declared cancer free ,he even won the Tour de France cycling championship again.

While the doctors found his recovery unbelievable .Lance firmly believed that a mind that thinks positive can conquer the body.

This story reveals that anything is possible. YOU can do anything. YOU have all the power inside you to do anything.

Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin--to say that you are weak - Swami Vivekananda

You are lions, you are souls, pure, infinite, and perfect. The might of the universe is within you. Why weepest thou my friend? - Swami Vivekananda

Face the brutes

There are a few fortunate souls who are lucky enough to attain success without pitfalls; the rest have to pass through the hurdles and dificulties. But the real hero is who welcomes challenges in life and faces them with boldness and courage.Such a person crossing all the hurdles comes out successfully like a lion. The following incident took place during Swami Vivekananda's wandering days, when he was staying at varanasi. It conveys a profund message to the world. One day, while returning from the Durga temple, Swamiji was chased by some monkeys. To save himself,Swamiji started running, but the monekys ran still faster and grew increasingly aggressive.Meanwhile, an old monk who was witnessing the scene called out to him: 'Stop running.Face the brutes.' Swamiji heard his call and turned to 'face the brutes.'
Swamiji drew a great lesson from this incident. He learnt that one should not run away, when faced with danger or difficulty; and instead, one must face it boldly. In his later life, addressing a gathering in New York,he said; 'That is a lesson for all life-face the terrible, face it boldly.Like the monekys, the hardships of life fall back, when we cease to flee before them. We have to face fear and troubles and ignorance, if we expect them to flee before us.

An Elephant and A Fly: Story Time

A disciple and his teacher were walking through the forest. The
disciple was disturbed by the fact that his mind was in constant
unrest.

He asked his teacher, "Why most people's minds are restless, and only
a few possess a calm mind? What can one do to still the mind?"
The teacher looked at the disciple, smiled and said, "I will tell you
a story. An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree. A
small fly came, flying and buzzing near his ear. The elephant waved it
away with his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant
waved it away once more."

This was repeated several times. Then the elephant asked the fly, "Why
are you so restless and noisy? Why can't you stay for a while in one
place?"

The fly answered: "I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My
five senses pull me constantly in all directions and I cannot resist
them. What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still?"

The elephant stopped eating and said, "My five senses do not rule my
attention. Whatever I do, I get immersed in it. Now that I am eating,
I am completely immersed in eating. In this way I can enjoy my food
and chew it better. I rule and control my attention, and not the other
way around."

Upon hearing these words, the disciple's eyes opened wide and a smile
appeared on his face. He looked at his teacher and said, "I
understand! If my five senses are in control of my mind and attention,
then my mind is in constant unrest. If I am in charge of my five
senses and attention, then my mind becomes calm."

"Yes, that's right", answered the teacher, "The mind is restless and
goes wherever the attention is. Control your attention, and you
control your mind.
"

The Wolf

One evening an old man told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves, which live inside all of us."

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old man simply replied, "The one you feed!!”

Udharet atmana atmanam na atmanam avsadyeta (BG 6/5) One must elevate oneself by his own mind, not degrade himself.

Yes do introspect, which wolf you are feeding! And certainly, outcome of that in the long run will be similar too!!
Why u people go to temple if god is everywhere

A man asked a saint infront of a temple"Why u people go to temple if
god is everywhere?".The saint smiled ane replied "Air is also
everywhere but u need a fan to feel it"

Life and The Ant

One morning I wasted nearly an hour watching a tiny ant carry a huge
feather cross my back terrace. Several times it was confronted by
obstacles in its path and after a momentary pause it would make the
necessary detour.

At one point the ant had to negotiate a crack in the concrete about
10mm wide. After brief contemplation the ant laid the feather over the
crack, walked across it and picked up the feather on the other side
then continued on its way. I was fascinated by the ingenuity of this
ant, one of God's smallest creatures. It served to reinforce the
miracle of creation. Here was a minute insect, lacking in size yet
equipped with a brain to reason, explore, discover and overcome. But
this ant, like the two-legged co-residents of this planet, also share
human failings.

After some time the ant finally reached its destination - a flower bed
at the end of the terrace and a small hole that was the entrance to
its underground home. And it was here that the ant finally met its
match. How could that large feather possibly fit down small hole
Of course it couldn't. so the ant, after all this trouble and
exercising great ingenuity, overcoming problems all along the way,
just abandoned the feather and went home.

The ant had not thought the problem through before it began its epic
journey and in the end the feather was nothing more than a burden.
Isn't life like that!

We worry about our family, we worry about money or the lack of it, we
worry about work, about where we live, about all sorts of things.
These are all burdens - the things we pick up along life's path and
lug them around the obstacles and over the crevasses that life will
bring, only to find that at the destination they are useless and we
can't take them with us...

Why to go to temple?

A 'devotee' goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and
complained that it made no sense to go to the Temple .

'I've gone for 30 years now, he wrote, and in that time I have heard
something like 3,000 mantras.

But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I
think I'm wasting my time and the Gurus are wasting theirs by giving
services at all.

This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column,
much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone
wrote this clincher: I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my
wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot
recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know
this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my
work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically
dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I
would be spiritually dead today!

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the
invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!

Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!
